The Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF) promotes fair-trade, ethics and transparency in Fancy Color Diamonds. Autonomously run, its activities are designed for the benefit of the mining, wholesale and retail industry, as well as individual owners of Fancy Color Diamonds
Initiated in 2005, the FCRF began tracking and documenting exclusive, refined, real-time data on the prices of fancy color diamonds. This data is the engine of the Fancy Color Diamond Index that tracks the prices and market behavior of yellow, pink and blue diamonds from 2005 up to date. In addition to the index, we are conducting proprietary research for publishing periodical articles on fancy color diamonds to share targeted information and advance knowledge within this niche of the diamond industry.
The Fancy Color Research Foundation goals are to:
FCRF members will receive access to the newly developed, cutting edge digital tools which will enable more transparency, raise the standards of ethics and assist in the marketing of fancy color diamonds.
Please note that companies with multiple users within the same account must create individual membership log-ins to access the FCRF’s sales tools and proprietary research.
The FCRF’s profits will be re-invested in further research and education programs and proceeds will be donated to the Make-A -Wish Foundation, the children’s charity that has a long-standing connection to the diamond industry.

The FCDI is a tracker of wholesale market price trends of yellow, pink and blue fancy color diamonds – the three most commonly traded fancy color diamond categories. The index is a composite representation of changes in price points based on a significant data sample gathered since 2005 and going forward will be published quarterly. It offers insight into variations in the appreciation of diamonds of different colors and sizes.
The SRE will estimate the rarity of any fancy color diamond above 1 carat based on actual statistics of stones evaluated, shared by the GIA and the Fancy Color Research Foundation.
Diamond rarity is established according to stone characteristics, namely hue, saturation, weight, inner-grade, undertone and color distribution.
The FCRF team is working on publishing a variety of articles and proprietary research related to Fancy Color Diamonds.
FCRF collects a large sample of fancy color diamond pricing data from a select group of fancy color diamond experts in three main trading centers: Hong Kong, New York and Tel-Aviv. Information is collected, verified and documented daily by the Foundation team. The data is then used to develop the FCD Index as well as conduct various analyses and develop periodic publications. Transaction prices and asking prices are reported to the FCRF by a select group of fancy color diamond experts, and verified periodically by a pricing panel.
The FCRF will seek out select industry experts to join as members of its Advisory Board. The Advisors will use reasonable efforts to attend meetings as requested from time to time and to render advice on issues discussed at such meetings. In addition, Advisory Board members will consult on general Foundation strategy, new business development, and other ad hoc matters.
